Let’s start things off with the star of the show! When it comes to wedding stationery, the very first thing to pop into most people’s minds is the wedding invitation. For couples planning their nuptials, the wedding invitation is almost always a “must-have” item, even if they are keeping many other elements of the wedding pretty low-key. 

“But Cara Jo, what is an ‘invitation suite?’” Well, the term “suite” literally means “a set or grouping,” just like a hotel suite means more than one room put together. Your invitation suite refers to all the pieces of paper (or wood, acrylic, whatever you concoct with your stationer!), as well as any decorative elements that will be mailed out to notify your loved ones of your plans for the big day! 

The “bare minimum” in the land of invitations is an invitation card and an envelope. However, if there is additional important information you need to communicate, consider including that in the invitation suite as well. 

These additional pieces are called “enclosure cards.” Invitation suites can include hand-drawn maps, directions and hotel reservation information, additional activities that will be happening around your wedding day, reply cards and their envelopes, and more! Often, couples also choose to place everything inside an inner envelope to keep it nice and clean as it travels through the mail to their guests.
