We made it through the first month of the year, now it’s time to get down to business! It’s February, and you’re probably wondering – what should you be doing this month for your wedding stationery? Here’s what to take care of based on what month you’re getting married in this year:
If you’re getting married in:
February
If you’re getting married this month – congrats!
If you are having place cards, escort cards, or a seating chart, confirm with your stationery designer or calligrapher that they have all your guest names and table assignments.
Finalize all the little details for your day-of signage.
Grab a bottle of champagne and celebrate!
If you’re getting married in:
March
You are 2-3 weeks out.
Start following up with those guests who haven’t quite finalized their RSVP.
Begin finalizing your seating assignments as you get RSVPs.
If you’re getting married in:
April
You are 6-8 weeks out.
It’s time to send your invites out! Sending your invites 6-8 weeks before your wedding date allows your guests to plan for travel. If you are having a destination wedding, send your invites out 8-10 weeks before your wedding.
Finalize and order your day-of stationery. This includes your reception signs, menus, custom napkins, and other signage.
If you’re getting married in:
May
You are 3 months out.
Your guests should have received their invitations and are starting to make plans and send their reply cards in.
Start updating your spreadsheet with their responses.
If you’re getting married in:
June, July, August
You are 4-6 months out.
If you haven’t already started working with a stationer, this would be a great time to do so. Stationers book up months in advance, so make sure you book with them as soon as you can!
If you’re getting married in:
September, October, November
You are 8-10 months out.
Send out Save the Date cards to all the guests you are inviting to the wedding. This is a great time to organize your guest list and make sure you have updated addresses.
If you’re looking for a great tool to collect addresses, check out Postable. It allows you to send your guests a form for them to input their addresses, birthday, and anniversaries into. You can download your addresses in a format that will work great for your stationer to address your envelopes with.
If you’re getting married in:
December & January 2022
You are less than a year out.
Begin talking with a stationer about your Save the Date cards.
Remember you need to send your save the dates out 6-8 months in advance if over 50% of your guests are local, and 8-10 months in advance if over 50% are traveling.
Finalize your guest list and begin gathering addresses.
