We believe the most valuable thing we can do as wedding stationers is devoting time to get to know our clients. And over the years we have found that turning our attention to understanding our couples’ passions and interests is just as important as color palette, themes, venues, even budget.
Getting to know you helps us create something truly authentic to your story and it always yields a dreamy end result that is original and entirely you.
We want to hear about your history together and the things in your life that you hold most precious.
We love coming up with cohesive designs that bring together everything from your save-the-dates and invitations to all the finishing touches on your special day.
We pride ourselves on our creativity, thoughtfulness, and close attention to detail.
Hi there – I’m Cara Jo! I’m a coffee-obsessed cat mom, who loves knitting, LEGOs, and drinking wine. Ever since I can remember I have been dipping my toes in something artistic. I’m sure if you ask my mother, while other little kids were playing with dolls or riding bikes I was perfectly organizing and arranging my crayons & markers. In 1996 I started to dabble in a more digital form of art, and actually I designed and built my first website! My interest in art and design persisted through school, eventually earning me a fancy Bachelor of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in Photography and Graphic Design.
Fast forward several years. I had met and married my husband and we were celebrating our first anniversary. I made him a book of memories from our relationship and I wanted to add some fancy lettering to it, so I decided to try my hand (literally) at calligraphy. And a new obsession was born!
Calligraphy was a gateway for me into the world of stationery design. As I started to help people with addressing their envelopes and writing place cards, I found that what I truly felt drawn to was designing and creating based on people’s love stories.
Knapp Design Co. has now evolved from just me and my calligraphy hobby into a full-fledged stationery design house. We’ve helped almost 200 couples get married over the last 4 years and the more couples we work with the more we recognize that the design of your day is a reflection of your love and lives together.

Something most people don't know:
I have no middle name!
Hey! I’m Kim. Think of me as Cara Jo’s right-hand girl and creative sounding board, assembly assistant, coffee-drinking companion and stationery specialist. In addition to these things I’m also “mom” to 9-year-old Lyla, 7-year-old Walker, a 12-year-old pound puppy named Irie and a whole hoard of houseplants. I’ve been married to the same really cool guy for my entire adult life. I love pretty much all things that involve creating and building, (my idea of a fun Friday night involves a glass of wine and a box of IKEA parts that need putting together).
My obsession with making things goes way back to childhood, but professionally I got into the wedding stationery industry in college when I started working for a high-end stationery shop. My eyes were opened to the world of paper finishes and printing methods and color palettes and there was simply no going back for me! My job in this lovely shop, surrounded by creatives and artists, taught me that I could make beautiful, interesting things purely because I wanted to but also, I could make them for other people!
I was a hobby-crafter/creator for many years and still am in many ways, but I’ve always been a girl of many interests. Several years ago I went to graduate school to pursue another pastime of mine, and I earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, specifically Creative Nonfiction. I am a visual person, I need to see things, look at things closely, read and write about things. So imagine my delight when I had the opportunity to join Cara Jo, and assist her in creating THE MOST beautiful things for all these beautiful couples in these exciting times in their lives. Pure. Bliss.

Our studio is located in the River North (RiNo) Art District. Our studio is housed in the former Denver Yellow Cab Central Depot which has been revitalized and is now part of the TAXI Campus. We love it, it's gritty, artsy, and full of natural light. Our space is big enough to hold our printing press, our paper cutter, and ample room for large assembly projects and happy hours. We'd love to have you over for a glass of bubbly soon!
