Happy New Year! We don’t know about you….but we are feeling ‘22!! Many wedding and events vendors tend to plan on a little bit of a vacay or at least a “slow season” from the end of December until around mid-February. Don’t get me wrong, plenty of weddings still take place in that window (and it’s a lovely time to get married!) but typically our load is lighter. HOWEVER, (and we are definitely not complaining) after a whirlwind of postponements and make-up-celebrations last year we hit the ground running in January because quite frankly, our “break” lasted about a week this time around.
So let’s catch you up on a few things that have been happening around the studio, shall we!?
Right after the holidays we latched onto the whole idea of “New Year, New You!” and pointed a finger at the Knapp Design Co. studio. Such a sweet, well-intentioned, hard-working old gal she was. But she needed a glam up real bad, and also, we needed to better utilize the space we had to work with. We were in desperate need of more countertop space for assembling projects and other production tasks so we essentially countertop-ed half of the room and installed lots of beautiful and spacious drawers and cabinets below. The result was truly breathtaking. After a few years of just “making it work” with basically a desk, some bookshelves and a folding table, the new studio is truly a dream space now. If you’d like to read more about the process of the redesign you can do that here!
Following the studio remodel we had something really fun stuff to look forward to! We scheduled our first ever staff retreat in Glenwood Springs! [Very highly recommend Iron Mountain Hot Springs, btw. Perfect locale for an easy-going bachelor/ette weekend! Gorgeous view of the river and yummy drinks too!] We spent a few very productive (and still relaxing) days drinking a little too much wine, soaking away our pandemic woes and mapping out what the rest of the year will look like for us based on the clients we already have booked. This way we were able to see what months we could take on more weddings and which months were already full. We also discussed some exciting new products we’re going to start offering on our Etsy shop! We’re still working out the details for our offerings, but in the meantime follow our shop to get updates.
While we didn’t have any couples actively getting married in January we had plenty of invitations and save-the-dates that needed design approvals this month. A few of our favorite suites that we sent to print this month:
Anna and Shawn are getting married in beautiful Boulder, CO and we were just so pleased with how this save-the-date turned out. The combination of the soft watercolor rendering of the Flatirons Range along with bold, modern take on a handwritten script was just, ugh, *chefs kiss*
This gorgeous save-the-date is a perfect marriage of classic floral and modern minimalist. The pairing of these two delicate but very different fonts turned out so beautiful and the monogram-plus-floral-half-crest created the perfect, clean, elegant, and simple card to send out to their guests.
Talk about a drool-worthy, totally luxe invitation. We were swooning over this color palette from the beginning but when the couple decided they wanted to letterpress the entire suite we just about lost it. And then the watermark floral details in the background of each card?! Stop. It. Right. Now. Too pretty.
One more exciting thing we worked on in January was a huge multi-page spread for Rocky Mountain Bride. We have always loved providing materials for RMB, because they have the absolute best vendors and aesthetic and overall vision. Everything they touch is beautiful and we have appeared in their online blog and printed magazine before but this hit a little different. This time it was about US! This feature, all about Knapp Design Co., will hit the stands in their Spring/Summer issue and we got to really go all out on some breathtaking new samples and bring to life some ideas we just cannot wait to share with all of you! We made sure to create some sample invitation suites that reflected a variety of price points, from super minimalist, chic and neutral to luxurious velvet and letterpress to over-the-top, leather-engraved upscale western. Here’s a couple behind the scenes teaser pics.
