A space to learn about wedding invitation Design, etiquette and stationery history
This is partseven of a series called One a Day in May, where we will review one wedding stationery term every day in May!
Wraps or jackets are another way to contain all the items for your invitation suite together. They are larger than belly bands and usually cover the invitation suite completely.
They can be a solid color or have a decorative pattern printed on them. Translucent vellum is a popular option since it shows off the contents of the invitation suite while still protecting it.
Printing on vellum is a great way to include other elements from your design into the invitation suite without overpowering the cards themselves.
For our own wedding invitations, we printed watercolor florals on vellum and sealed them with a wax seal. Our guests were so delighted to open them – they felt like they were getting a present!
Wraps are commonly sealed with a wax seal, but you can get creative with silk or velvet ribbon! We’re loving the clean look of vellum with silk ribbon. So many possibilities!
